The Chateau Ste. Michelle was built on the property of the former Stimson mansion. According to legend, Mr. Stimson had an affair with a servant named Elizabeth. When Elizabeth became pregnant, she conveniently fell down the stairs, to her death. It is believed that Elizabeth's ghost haunts the grounds. Visitors have described cold spots, shadowy figures, bizarre noises and randomly flushing toilets at the winery.
