Lewis Army Museum - Fort Lewis Military Museum
Fort Lewis, WA 98433
The Fort Lewis Military museum is known for a whole host of paranormal activity, but perhaps its most famous ghost is the silent film cowboy. According to legend, during a 1927 filming of the film "Patent Leather Kid," an actor was murdered on the second floor. At this time the museum was a hotel, named Red Shield Inn. Guests to the hotel often recounted stories of a disgruntled apparition who would appear in a cowboy costume. Eventually an exorcism was performed in order to expel the ghost. The cowboy ghost no longer makes appearances but it is believed that other specters haunt the museum.

In the fall of 2015, I was painting in a newly constructed building on the base. It was built after demolition of older buildings. It was a large (50 000 - 100000 sq ft) building, I believe it was all classrooms. I was working all alone in the building. While up on a 6 ft ladder I was painting above a door. All of a sudden I had a double tap on my shoulder, like someone getting my attention. I didn't think much of it at the time because there are often wires and others things hanging from the ceilings in new construction waiting for complete installation.
After finishing my task, I turned around on the ladder, and there was nothing hanging down.
When I realized nothing was there to bump into, instead of feeling freaked out, I had a feeling of calm and solitude.
I sincerely believe that someone had just wanted to connect and be recognized and having done that was satisfied with the encounter. That is my only experience of this kind in my 65 years. God bless all who have passed.

I dated a MP in early 2000s. We drove over to the museum with some friends one night. Some of the guys told us stories about the alarms being tripped a lot. When they went to check it out there was absolutely nothing. When we got there and walked around, the feeling walking around the area was so heavy. As we were leaving you could see a womans shadow in one of the top floor windows. Many years later, I went at night with some girl friends. Near one of the areas i felt like i was shot in the stomach. A stabbing, burning feeling.
