Monte Cristo Ghost Town is an old mining town located in Snohomish County. It is tucked inside the Cascade Mountains right outside of Seattle and is known to be quite the eerie place. The town had frequent fires and floods due to its location in the Cascades and it started to only be accessible during the summer months. After some time, the town of Monte Cristo became abandoned and the road has fallen into disrepair. Hikers can still explore the town by foot and check out the remaining buildings, however, rumor has it there are several ghosts of long gone miners still residing in the town.

  • strange noises.

My dog and I stayed in the little campsite up the hill by the road. I was walking down to the Monte Cristo Basin to look around, when my dog started barking at a wall at the entrance of one of the mines. It was strange because she only barks when there's loud noises (like fireworks) or people she doesn't know, but the area was dead silent except for a little wind and nobody was around. The rock of the wall also had some chips in it, probably from the miners way back then, but still was super creepy. I might bring some ghost hunting stuff if I go again.

  • Miner Racket

I went on a backpacking trip to Monte Christo Basin where the actual mine's are. First evening I stayed in the little campsites up on a slight Hill to the left up a little road behind the small wooden bathroom right next to the road. That evening as I was in my tent getting ready to crawl into my sleeping bag I heard the distinct sound of three or four men's echoing voices and clanging equipment and rocks. Interesting thing is the actual mines are about four miles or so up the trail into the basin. I did not imagine it. I experienced it. It was my one and only experience in Monte Cristo. However I've had many many other experiences in various places
