When hotel Almira was being rebuilt in 1917 it housed workers for a nearby dam project. According to legend the ghosts of these workers remain at the hotel and apparitions of men in work clothes can be seen in the basement and on the staircase. Room twenty one is particularly haunted and is seldom rented out. There have been reports of knocking, voices and disembodied footsteps emanating from inside the room.

My parents owned the building

My mother and father, April and Dennis bought the place in the 2010s, we opened Charlie's place which was a restaurant and bar in the bottom floor. People would say that the delivery guys wouldn't even go in the basement, and its true. I was the youngest, and me and my brother would have to go down there to swap the syrup for the soda machines because no one else would, not even my mother. We all said we say things because we did, even to the point where some people left and refused to work on the building. We have moved now and the building is under new management. It was a pleasure to be apart of such an historic buildings life and I hope someone can bring that building back to its former glory, a true haunted hotel.

Grandparents Used To Own It

I stayed here as a child because my grandparents Stella and Clyde Gibson owned it then. They had it for years. Stella had a hair salon and there was a bowling alley and a diner/cafe. We roamed around freely as kids. Once we opened a door that was an empty elevator shaft and I came close to being a permanent resident. It was quite creepy in a Scooby Doo adventure kind of way. Everything was old the furniture the bowling pins in the bowling alley... all of it was lost in time. I was sad when they sold it, but the entire town evaporated. There were all old people when we were there. The doted over young kids being there. The town people hung out there everyday because the diner was one of the last remaining places open. I could see why folks would choose to move in there after passing. It was a really fun place and the town's unofficial community center. It is a treasure to be preserved.

Three Souls

I've stayed in it. Been in every part. Heard doors slamming and saw clinking keys, when there were only two of us. I have been told stories of Charlie, a young boy, his sister, and an older tall man.
